Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A query entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The partner processes the name or case number and provides its results. Cherokee County Court Docket does not retain or log those query terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained as needed to answer it. Messages remain within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers may receive routine technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They support aggregate analysis of page traffic and visitor paths. Analytics providers may help process that information. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Cherokee County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court cases or personal case records. It publishes general directions to the Cherokee County Circuit Clerk, courts, and statewide systems that hold official records. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices govern data sent through those tools. Review the applicable partner policy before entering a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to official court and clerk pages, statewide portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows such a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal data.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select ads. We do not operate that tracking infrastructure.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so a breach can never be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be deleted when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights over personal data. Alabama court-record access is separately governed by the Alabama Rules of Court-Record Privacy and Confidentiality and the public-writing provisions in Alabama Code sections 36-12-40 and 36-12-41. Those authorities govern official public records, not this site's visitor analytics. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. The current version will appear here with a new effective date.
